Teatro Tapia


This theater is named after the Puerto Rican poet and playwright Alejandro Tapia y Rivera.  It is among the oldest free-standing drama stage buildings under U.S flag . It was built in 1821 and opened in 1832. It was designed in the italian style as a horeshoe opera house.




The Tapia Theater is located in front of Plaza Colon at the corner of Ponce de Leon Avenue and Fortaleza Street.
